Cajun spice mix for the American-Cajun-cuisine
The Cajun spice mix is just right for Cajun-American cooking, whereby the American kitchen is divided into three unique cooking styles. The Cajun cuisine, the Mexican cuisine, and the Creole cuisine.
Origin of the Cajun-kitchen
The Cajun kitchen came to Canada in 1764-85 with the French fugitives. They were workers and preferred to eat stews called gumbos. Later they moved to the region around Louisiana, the southern states, and also brought their preferences for a spicy, spicy kitchen with them. Here it developed over time and changed with the surrounding influences. Many Cajun dishes are made with bacon.
The Cajuns were excellent, productive farmers, and grew various legumes and a wide variety of herbs. They cultivated fruit trees such as apricots, figs, pears, apples, peaches, and plums. Her kitchen mainly uses local products.
The Cajun kitchen changed over time. In the beginning, fish was not part of this delicate cooking style, but it was introduced with seafood from the 19th century. At first, fish was used only during Lent. Still, later with the technical development of refrigeration and financial prosperity of the workers who found work well-paid in the oil industry, it became an integral part.
Culinary use
Our Cajun spice mixture has a superb sharpness and a delicate thyme aroma. Even if the Cajun cuisine is anything but vegan or vegetarian, our spice mix also fits here.
For example, I love grooved sweet potatoes with a spicy mixture. Cut the sweet potato into wedges and coat it with a combination of 3 tablespoons of oil and one teaspoon of Cajun spices. Season everything with salt and put the potatoes in the oven under the grill until they have changed color and have a nice crust.
The spice mix goes very well with cooked beans. To do this, put bacon in a pan and roast it vigorously, then add one glass of white (before prepared) beans and a can of chopped tomatoes. A little tomato paste, salt, and one tablespoon of Cajun spice mixture for even more spiciness, you can add a few Bird Eyes chili pods.
Typical Cajun dishes are dirty rice (rice cooked with chicken liver), gumbo, jambalaya, fried catfish, cornbread.
Storage of spice mixes
Please fill your spices and mixtures into airtight containers; I prefer glasses because they are easy to clean. All spices should be stored away from the sun's rays. Best cold (15 ° C) and dry.
